French Connection
We spent 3½ weeks in July and August touring around France, catching up with friends in Provence and soaking up some of the regional sights and tastes on offer.

Vive la différence
Le Monde
Spurred on by our friends who invited us to join them for a week in a house rental in Provence, we added on another 2½ weeks to soak up some of the regional sights and tastes of France.

Over the top
The Gulf News
Hopping between air conditioned taxis and ostentatious shopping malls was about as intrepid as we got in Dubai in the summer time.

The Good Life
Home and Garden
After a year of searching, we have finally found an idyllic semi-rural lifestyle block on Waiheke Island, that we are very excited to call home.

Bula Vinaka, Fiji
The Fijian Times
We had a laid back seven nights in Fiji. In the 32 degree heat we didn't want to do much at all - just lots of: eating, drinking and swimming.

  A "Guru" in the making:

Ready, Steady, Waiheke
A "Ready, Steady, Cook" competition capped off a fun filled 24 hours, when  Mick, Chrissy, Pauline and Bob visited Waiheke Island.

All fur coat, and no knickers
A group of fledgling movie-makers gathered over a weekend in mid April to write, shoot and edit a short movie, all within a 48 hour time frame.

Horsing around on the Otago Rail Trail
A day of biking, followed by a selection of thirst quenching beverages. Multiply this by five and the result is our version of the Otago Rail Trail.

Short and sweet
The dust barely had time to settle from their previous overseas trip, before Ted and Shoddi left on their next venture - this time: four Japanese cities in just six days.

Ten Decades of Decadence
A time-warped clan of diners assembled for an epic ten course degustation meal – one course for every decade of the 20th century.

Late night fracas at U.N.PRO.D.E.D
The United Nations Progressive Day of Eating and Drinking (U.N.PRO.D.E.D.) resulted in a late night fracas, with the English delegation's efforts to be repatriated back to their homeland, causing a lot of concern.

Lifting the lid on Sydney
After roughing it on some of their previous trips, our intrepid travellers report on the adventures to be found in Sydney.

2010 Economist of the Year
The 2010 Economist of the Year function came with a twist — this time it wasn't a pub crawl.

The first ever game of "Econopubly" was devised and played out on the streets of Wellington – as a band of wannabe tycoons systematically secured iconic CBD properties, in a bid to become the 2008 Economist of the Year.

Swinging safari
Terry and Ross visited us on Waiheke Island over election weekend and the sojourn culminated with a day-trip over to Rangiriri, in North Waikato.

Viva Las Wegas
Wellywood made way for Las Wegas, when the inaugrual Economist Poker Pub Crawl was held to determine the 2006 Economist of the Year.

Toasted in Ohau
Five national teams gathered in Horowhenua to determine who would be crowned the supreme wine-and-dine champion, at Toast Ohau 2012.

The Big Four-Oh
To compensate for hitting the ripe old age of forty, Shoddy was treated to a lavish weekend in the Wairarapa.

U2 Concert
Guru Ted & Shoddi Shiva (along with Moira Mahal) made the trip up to Auckland, for a U2 concert, some fine Indian dining and another look around Waiheke Island.

Marmite Man & the Baked Bean Lady at the Rugby 7s
Two classic kiwi icons were served to the hordes at the Rugby Sevens in Wellington.

Gettin' busy with the fizzy
A relaxing and enjoyable break over the festive season, incorporated numerous dining and drinking opportunities, along with many friends and house guests visiting us on Waiheke.

Getting stopped in their tracks
Two classic kiwi icons, the ubiquitous Marmite jar and the humble can of Watties baked beans, were served to the hordes at the 2007 Rugby Sevens in Wellington.

Island Time
Ted's Tiki Tour of Waiheke took Shelley and Reuben to all corners of the Island, during their whirlwind weekend visit.

Taking a Dive
A sleek houseboat on South Australia's Murray River was an ideal springboard for the Kiwi diving contingent to launch from.

AC/DC fever hits Captial
They aren't getting any "younger" but AC/DC proved that age was no barrier to putting on a rocking good show at Wellington stadium.

Foxy mamas and funky fellas
Plenty of cool threads, lots of nifty food and heaps of groovy music were on show at the 1970s Retro Dinner Party. Later in the evening, Shirley Bassie and Selwyn Toogood joined in and livened things up.

From Appletini to Zombie
Guru Ted throws an alphabetic themed cocktail party to celebrate his birthday.

God Save the Queens
The 2010 Wellington Rugby Sevens was graced by the appearance of not one, but several Queen Elizabeths.

Sydney revisited
Shoddy and Ted took a trip across the ditch to see how the Sydney landscape has changed since their previous visit — in short, not much at all.

Wedding Day Drama
Hannah and Thom had a most memorable wedding day, when the bus transporting the guests to the venue came within a whisker of toppling over on a gravel driveway.

Toast Roseneath
The inaugural Toast Roseneath was held recently, with wine, food and music over a number of locations in some greater Roseneath locations.

Bill Bryson's Book Launch
Lord Alarn and Guru Ted made a lasting impression on Maggie Barry and Bill Bryson, at the Lower Hutt launch of his latest book.

Good Moaning Vietnam
Guru Ted and Shoddi enjoyed a relaxing three weeks in Vietnamm and Cambodia. Shopping was high on the list of priorities, as well as lots of rest, relaxation and plenty of honeymoon "pampering".

Dusty Trails
A day of mountain biking, followed by a fine selection of thirst quenching beverages. Multiply this by five, and you have a sense of our journey along the Otago Rail Trail over the Christmas holidays.

Hedwig's Angry Inch
The Hedwig Horror Musical Entourage bedazzled the lower North Island - and the folk in Taihape will never be the same again.

An Arabian Night
A sudden increase in the number of dodgy looking Arabs sighted in Wellington had NZ customs and border security on high alert. But it turned out to be false alarm and was in fact an Arabian themed Christmas Party.

Coast to Coast (Guru Ted style)
An overnight stay in Greymouth was the curtain raiser to Sylvia's ash scattering at Cave Rockin Sumner.

Like sands through the hour glass
Shodrick experienced some of the marvelous hospitality that the Nelson region has to offer, while celebrating her most recent birthday.

Ted's Train and Tavern Tour a success
A small band of merry men set out on a mission from God, to visit all the pubs in close proximity to the railway stations in the Wellington region.

Toast Ohau
Five nations gathered in Ohau for a multicultural sporting, eating and drinking extravaganza.

Daily temperature recorded in Waiheke (and weekly rainfall), since we arrived in April 2011.

The Bronze Age
Guru Ted enrolled in a Bronze Casting workshop, held over two successive weekends, with Waiheke bronze sculpting identity, Olivier Duhamel.

Can-Ted Camera

My year long project of snapping a photograph for every day of the 2011 calendar year has finally been completed. Thanks to everyone that helped along the way.
